Today was a holiday! We’ve all had such a hard time this year and it is nice not to be so busy. We’ve had a lot of rain, and it rained all weekend, but today was fine. Fine, but very hot. Anyway, we went for a drive to the mountains. We didn’t know where to go but took a turn between Gosen and Shibata and found a secluded lake. It was certainly befitting on this national holiday called, “Mountain Day”. The highlight as far as birds go was a Mountain Hawk Eagle. It was very far away so my images are greatly cropped. I took my eye off it when I saw an osprey and kite zooming around closer to me. When I looked back for the hawk-eagle, it was gone. Probably stooped a few metres behind me.

Thank you for the Support

My exhibition has ended and I have been overwhelmed by the support and encouragement. Thank you to the “Echigo-Teien-Cultural-Festival” for allowing me to participate and to everyone at the Sakyukan where the exhibition was held. I am also very grateful to all who helped print, frame and prepare my photographs. Furthermore, I was speechless when flowers and gifts arrived, and didn’t imagine such a flow of supportive visitors. Everything was so unexpected, but I am most grateful. The older I get I understand that we not only need to support and encourage the children of the world, but everyone well into their hundreds. When I looked at my pictures on the wall, I felt the support I have had all my life from seniors, friends and family, and two countries, and to all, I am most grateful.

Wabisabi Time Travelers “20 Light Years” – Exhibition

Here is a revised promotion for my exhibition for July 10, 11, and 12. Hopefully with fewer typos! Just days away now! Stay safe. (I have to say to Australian and British visitors that “travelers” is spelt with American English as are most things in Japan, and “Wabi Sabi Time Travelers” is our organization. I’m not that bad at English -well wasn’t) Please note however, this website blends various dialects at times.

Exhibition Announcement – “20 Light Years”

Well, it’s been a while since I posted anything here this strange year. It is actually 20 years since I first arrived in Japan and it is working out to be the strangest of all. Anyway to celebrate, I am having an exhibition of photographs to share with the community. I have heaps of invitations to send but mail to Australia is still not happening. So, I guess like everything else, I will just do it online. I just posted the image below on instagram then realised I didn’t capitalise the “L” in “Light”. I’m glad I did this. I’m proud to be an advocate of Fine Art. I am not a graphic artist nor photographer. I guess the day I am at peace with this, will be a peaceful day.

Golden Week 2019 is soon setting into history. My passerine photo collection still wains behind large easy to photograph raptors and here are my only successes. I tried hard but didn’t find many subjects other than these. These three are still excitement for tired eyes, a sore throat and blocked nose.

Well, Golden week is finally here. It really is gold this year. I have buckets of files to stoop down through from both Australia and Japan for the last few months and I hope I can finally start to get into it. Many dragonflies, birds, reptiles and mammals.
