Foundation Day Birding

It was nice to have last Tuesday off for Foundation Day in Japan. A special treat was an outing with my friend, Mr Honma. It seems ages since our last adventure. Maybe it was this time last year when we found a Steller’s Eagle. This year we weren’t so lucky. We tried hard but failed. I did see a White-tailed Eagle make a charge and catch something behind the reeds. It was very far away though. Another sought after subject was a White-naped Crane. We couldn’t find it either. I guess the nicest thing was the sight of hundreds of wild geese scattered around the fields. Bean Geese and Great White-fronted Geese, I believe. (With Tundra Swans farther behind them) The geese were very skittish, though. I couldn’t get closer than these images. It’s nice to see life of planet earth. May she hold on tight.
